Abstract

Aims: This study aims to examine the individual and combined impacts of parental guidance, peer influence, and social media on adolescent promiscuity in Indonesia, providing insights into key drivers of adolescent behavior within this context.

Methods: This original research utilized a cross-sectional design involving 250 adolescents selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire, including validated instruments to assess parental guidance, peer influence, social media exposure, and promiscuity levels. Data analysis was conducted using logistic regression.

Results: Findings revealed that peer influence and social media exposure significantly predicted higher levels of promiscuous behavior among adolescents (p < 0.05). Conversely, stronger parental guidance was associated with a decrease in promiscuity (p < 0.01). The combined model accounted for a substantial proportion of variance in adolescent promiscuity, with social media exposure showing the strongest influence.

Conclusion: The study underscores the need for comprehensive interventions targeting peer and social media influences while reinforcing parental guidance to mitigate adolescent promiscuity. These findings highlight actionable pathways for educators, policymakers, and families in reducing risky behaviors among Indonesian youth.
